What are “teeth in a day”?

The “Teeth in a Day” or “All-on-X” treatment concept is a state-of-the-art procedure that provides patients permanent fixed teeth utilizing 4-6 dental implants per jaw. An implant in a titanium screw that is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a natural tooth. To learn more about dental implants, visit our Dental Implants Page

Thanks to advances in dental implant technology, you DO NOT need an implant for every missing tooth. In fact, all that is required is 4-6 strategically placed implants per jaw to restore your smile! In one short day we have the ability to remove your existing diseased teeth, place implants, and deliver a beautiful fixed prosthetic. If you are currently missing all your teeth and are wearing a denture, your existing denture can be converted by our experienced lab technicians to fit onto your new implants.

Your dental team will include our highly experienced oral surgeons, your general dentist, an anesthesiologist, and lab technicians. We take no shortcuts to ensure your procedure is done in the safest, most efficient, and most effective manner! By combining the latest in dental implant technology with the expertise of our oral surgeons and the rest of your dental team, we are able to provide you with a radiant new smile in just one day!

Why choose SD Oral, Facial, and Implant Surgery for my procedure?

The surgeons at SD Oral, Facial, and Implant Surgery are experts in the teeth in a day procedure. Dr. Sharafi has performed more of these cases than anyone in Southern California, performing more than 3,700 jaws with a success rate of over 97%. In fact, he spends his spare time travelling across the country lecturing and teaching other dentists and surgeons how to perform the teeth in a day procedure.

Additionally, unlike many other centers that perform similar procedures at high volumes, we work closely with your own general dentist to produce a treatment plan suited perfectly for you.

Who should consider full arch restoration?

  • Anyone with several failing or missing teeth

  • Anyone currently wearing dentures

What are the advantages of implant supported prosthetic vs. traditional removable dentures?

With advances in modern medicine, life expectancy is constantly increasing. With this increase in life expectancy, the aging population is outliving their teeth! Based on the most recent data, 36 million Americans are missing all their teeth and 120 million Americans are missing at least one tooth (not including wisdom teeth). With advances in dental implant technology, we are now able to provide patients with a superior alternative to removable dentures.

Some advantages of fixed implant supported prosthesis compared to traditional removable dentures include, but are not limited to:

  • Not removable

  • Stable bite compared to loose dentures that rock and move when you speak and attempt to eat

  • No palate coverage! Implant supported prosthetics only cover the gums in the area that your natural teeth would have been located.

  • Prevention of progressive bone loss that occurs with dentures.

  • No more sticky and messy denture adhesive.

  • No need to remove teeth at night and after meals for cleaning – fixed implant supported prosthetics are cleaned just like your natural teeth with a toothbrush and floss.

Are the teeth I get on the day of my surgery the same ones that I will use for the rest of my life?

No, on the day of the surgery a temporary prosthetic will be attached to your implants. This can be made by modifying your current denture to attach to the implants, or by making a completely new prosthetic. Once the implants are placed, they require 4 months of healing to fuse with your jawbone, during which you will be using the temporary prosthetic. After the implants have healed, your dentist will replace the temporary prosthetic with a much stronger permanent prosthetic.
